Shakumaku (شكو ماكو) is a widely used Iraqi Arabic casual greeting meaning “What´s up” or “how are you?”
This sculptural wall artwork translates that familiar phrase into a clean, modern calligraphic form. The phrase is believed to have ancient origins, potentially stemming from the Mesopotamian language Akkadian, where akoon meant “there is” and was combined with sha (“what”) and ma (a negation).
